Obituary for Shirley Noel Holzman
Shirley Noel Holzman (79), March 30, 1941 – August 22, 2020
Beloved daughter to the late William Noel and Lucille Burgo from Chicago IL.
She was baptized at St. Philip Benizi Church and was a devout member of St Edwards Church in Chicago, IL for over 10 years. After graduation from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, IL, she went on to work for Jewel Foods for three years and met Robert J. Holzman. They were married at St Viator Church on February 11, 1961. She was a faithful and devoted wife to husband Robert Jacob Holzman (54); deceased November 7, 1992.
Shirley was a loving mother to Robert A. Holzman (son) and Deborah A. Holzman-Martinez (daughter) of Houston, TX. She was a caring mother-in-law to Ricardo Martinez. She was surrounded by her children during her passing, providing words of love and comfort. Shirley is survived by her brother David (Ann) Hickey from Chicago, IL and was preceded in the death of her other brother, Allen James (Shirley) Noel; deceased March 22, 2020. An aunt to niece and nephew Cheryl (Ravi) Ricker, Tracy Noel, and Tim Hickey, to whom she deeply loved and was extremely proud.
Homemaker and housewife, Shirley loved doll making, theatre/arts/music, traveling, and visiting with friends. Shirley attended St Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church over 30 years in Spring, TX. Her faith and understanding of God’s word grew from attending many bible study classes over the course of her lifetime. Shirley had many lifelong friends who were as close to her as sisters.
A funeral buriall will be held Saturday September 5th, 11:30 AM at MARYHILL CEMETERY 8600 N MILWAUKEE AVE NILES, IL 60648 for the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY at www.cancer.org.
