Obituary for ROBERT FRANK GABRIEL

Robert Frank “Bob” Gabriel, age 77, was born in Chicago on August 7, 1942, to the late Frank and Mae (née Gjondla/Gjonola) Gabriel. He passed away August 26, 2019, after a valiant battle with prostate cancer.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1964-66. He worked for the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board for many years as managing editor/photographer for the “All A-Board” and later as a graphic artist in the RRB’s print shop. After he retired in 1995, he and his wife became parents to many dogs, cats and birds. Bob patrolled the local forest preserves “keeping order” for many years with his beloved German shepherd dog, Gypsy. After Gypsy died, he became a “street” photographer, prowling the city in search of interesting people and places to photograph. A life-long bowler, he bowled two perfect 300 games in his 70s.\ Bob is survived by his beloved wife Candace (née Marr) Gabriel and his loving first wife, Barbara Ann (née Izban) Gabriel. Loving brother of Lydia (Ken Danielson) Lamb. Fond brother-in-law of Judith (Stephen) Lusk, Susan Van De Velde, and Frank (Gerrie) Izban. Dearest uncle of many beautiful nieces and nephews and their children. Loving friend to all his pals.
Visitation Thursday, August 29, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at TOHLE FUNERAL HOME, 4325 W. Lawrence Ave. Chicago, 60630. Internment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (www.pcf.org).
