Obituary for Marieth J. "Marie" Dardugno

Marie Banks Dardugno, 98, of Pryor, OK went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2021. She was born on February 19, 1923 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Thomas Ezekiel and Tennie Burleson Banks. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Family and faith were the most important parts of her life.
Marie was a member of the Barnardsville High School class of 1941. She married Angelo Dardugno in 1943, when he was stationed in Ashville, NC during WWII, before being sent overseas. They moved to Chicago, IL after the war, where they owned an independent grocery. She worked as a customer service and credit manager for Sears for 25 years, until retiring in 1988. She continued to work for Walmart after retirement. After Angelo passed away in 2004, she joined her daughter and family in Pryor, OK, where she was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Angelo Dardugno and son-in-law William J. Eaton Jr. D.D.S. of Pryor, OK.
One of 11 children, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Lyn Banks, Thomas Banks, Jr., and Jack Banks and by her sisters, Gladys Ledford, Lois Riddle, Anna Luther, Betty Preston, and Linda Sue Banks.
Surviving Marie are her daughter, Ellen Eaton, of Pryor, OK; sons: Nick Dardugno Sr. (MaryAnn) of Chicago, IL, Thomas Dardugno (Robin Richardson) of Chapel Hill, NC.; grandchildren: Joseph Eaton III, Anthony (Teri) Eaton, Jeffrey (Misty) Eaton, Nick Dardugno Jr., Kevin (Carolina) Dardugno, Julie (Daniel) Lomer, James (Mary-Claire Runchey) Dardugno, Danielle (Marty) Flores and Diana (Josh) Newton; great-grandchildren: Christopher Farral, Emily Eaton, Sophia Eaton, Andrew Eaton, Jane Dardugno, Thomas Dardugno, Ryan Dardugno, Connor Dardugno, Jack Lomer, Andrew Lomer, Adam Lomer, Maris Dardugno, Easton Flores, Ellis Flores; and great-great grandchild, Aurora Farral. Also surviving are her siblings Louise Bryan and Riley Banks.
Visitation Saturday August 28th, from 8:00 AM until time of funeral service 9:30 AM at Tohle Funeral Home 4325 W. Lawrence Ave. Chicago, IL 60630. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Edward Church or Masses appreciated. Following services at the funeral home an entombment with a committal service will be held at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum located at 1400 S. Wolf Rd. Hillside, IL 60162.
