Kirk J. Montijo, “Papas”, age 57, late of the East Side and formerly of the northside of Chicago in Albany Park, passed away on March 31, 2022. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Flores) for 24 years. Loving father of Amanda (Christian) Rivera, Kristen (Fiancé Nicholas Gentile) Montijo and Kirk Montijo. Devoted grandfather of Emilio “Milo” Rivera and Ariana “The Baby” Rivera. Dear son of Augusto and Aida Montijo. Dearest brother of Kevin (Bridgitt) Montijo, Kenny (Alia) Montijo, Augie Montijo, Augie, Jr. Montijo, Marlene (Edwin) Diaz, Steven (Melissa) Montijo, Candy Montijo, late Rosa Montijo, Irma Montijo, late Darlene Montijo-Ruiz and late Susie Montijo. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Kirk also leaves behind his “Grand Fur Babies” Bruno “Scruffy Dog”, Dobby, Apollo and Orion all of whom loved him very much. Employee of the City of Chicago, Department of Fleet Management. Former employee of the “State of Illinois”, Snowplow Division. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School where he played football and baseball and later attended Northeastern Illinois University. He was a coach of baseball, softball and bowling for numerous schools in the CPS System. He loved playing softball locally on numerous teams and was an avid Chicago Bear and Chicago Cub fan. Visitation Monday, April 4, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. at the Tohle Funeral Home 4325 West Lawrence Ave. Chicago, IL 60630 and on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 3-8 p.m. at the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago, IL 60617. Funeral Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 9:15 a.m. from the Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. Ewing Ave. Chicago to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery Calumet City, IL.
