Loving daughter of the late Theodore and Margaret (O'Donnell) Ries; Dearest sister of the late Ted Ries, Dear aunt of Kathleen (Joe) Kearns, Ted (Lisa) Ries, Barbara (Kevin) Murphy and Michael Ries; Fond grand aunt to Christina (Brian), Sinead, Kierna, Oliver Kearns and John Murphy; Fond great grand aunt to Kaiden Guild.
Kathy was also known as Sugars, Peppermint Patty, and the beloved "Waitress from Hell" at Jack's Restaurant for many of her later years. She was a force of nature, like a human tsunami, filled with love and fierce determination. Everyone who knew her loved her and appreciated her willingness to help all. She lived in the Edgewater area of Chicago for most of her life, earning multiple Citizenship awards for her dedication to protecting her neighbors and the neighborhood. Later moving into the Mayfair area (Chicago) and said she was gifted with the "most wonderful neighbors" anyone could ever have.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2022, 10:30 am at Saint Edward Church, 4350 W Sunnyside Ave, Chicago IL. 60630 (Sunnyside and Kostner).
