Obituary for John Bosco D'Amico

Our whole family is saddened to announce the passing of our father, John B. D’Amico. He passed peacefully surrounded by family on December 2, 2020. Our father bravely fought cancer, all the way to the end. His love for family and friends, close and extended, near and far, was a priority, and he spoke of you all often. We will cherish so many wonderful memories with him. Nobody could tell a story, quite like our father could. He was an absolutely wonderful husband to Marie “Cookie” (Laurino) D’Amico, devoted son of the late Giovanni (late Concetta nee Gandolfo), a loving father to the Honorable John and Jim, father-in-law to Christine and Dawn, grandfather to Jennifer, Michelle, Johnny, and Jimmy. Devoted son-in-law of the late Honorable Anthony C. (late Marie) Laurino. Fond brother-in-law of the Honorable William (Rosanne) Laurino and the Honorable Margaret (Randy Barnette) Laurino. Dear uncle of Suanne (Ray) Humbert, Concetta Mrugacz, Christopher (Dana) Kaechele and John (Mara) Hundrieser. John was a 37-year employee and former Deputy Commissioner of the City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation. He has always been an intricate part and motivator for the 39th Ward Democratic Organization. He always thought of this Ward Organization as his extended family. He will always be remembered as a great coach to many at St. Edwards and a true outdoorsman.
We will never forget you; we love you, and we miss you! Rest in Peace Dad!

Due to Covid restrictions the family will have a private funeral Mass and Interment.
In lieu of flowers donations to St. Edward Church Youth Program appreciated. Info 773-685-4400 or tohlefuneralhome.com
