Obituary for James Joseph Mulligan

James Joseph ‘Jim’ Mulligan died unexpectedly on October 4th at the age of 77. He was surrounded by loved ones at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Loving husband of Patricia (née Burget) for over 55 years. Dearest father of James Michael and Gerrie Michelle. Dedicated son of the late Andrew and Kathleen Mulligan of County Longford and County Mayo - Ireland. He was a proud Irishman through and through. Cherished grandfather of Chloe Elisabeth. Beloved brother to the late Patricia (Chuck) McNulty, John (Cindy) Mulligan, the late Kathleen (Patrick) Cheeseman, and Ann (Glenn) Aquino. Respected godfather, uncle and great uncle to many.
After arriving in the US, Jim became a life-long resident of Logan Square. He was a proud alumnus of St. Sylvester & DePaul Academy. ‘Mulligan’ was a retired City of Chicago construction machinist of 31 years. He was appreciated for his strong work ethic and commitment to service. Jim was always admired for his willingness to advise and assist generations with their projects or problems. A contribution to the Logan Square neighborhood most recently was coordinating the revitalization of the World War I Memorial at Fullerton and Francisco. He will be missed and never forgotten.
Visitation Saturday October 8th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at TOHLE FUNERAL HOME 4325 W. Lawrence Ave. Interment private. Information available at 773-685-4400
